Born and raised in Sacramento, California, John grew up playing multiple sports at a young age. He ultimately fell in love with the game of golf and found some success during his amateur career, winning consecutive NCGA State Match Play Championships (‘10, ‘11) and Memorial Amateur Championships (‘11, ‘12). He went on to play for the University of New Mexico where he was an Academic All-American (‘11, ‘12, ‘13) and an honorable mention NCAA All-American in 2012. That same year he also won the Arizona Intercollegiate and was named UNM Student-Athlete of the year.

Turning professional in 2013, John began working with coach, Noah Montgomery, which would prove to be a significant turning point in John’s career. After spending his first few years of his career on the MacKenzie Tour, John flew across the Pacific Ocean and earned his Asian Tour card via Q-School in 2015. The following years proved difficult for John as he earned and lost his card multiple times and switched to the Asian Developmental Tour full time. He then re-earned full status on the Asian Tour via a third place finish on the 2017 ADT Order of Merit. Building off this momentum in 2018, John won 3 times on the Asian Tour—which earned him Asian Tour Player’s Player of Year honors. By finishing 6th on the AT Order of Merit, John secured status on the European Tour for the 2019 season. Because of his success and world golf ranking, he also earned sponsor exemptions to three 2019 PGA tour events (the Desert Classic, Waste Management Phoenix Open, and AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am) while also Monday qualifying for the John Deere Classic. John wrapped up the 2019 season with a win at the Thailand Open, his fourth victory on the Asian Tour.

To this day, John continues to work very closely with Noah and credits his success to the hard work they have both put into developing his game.
